Declare Your Independence

Two hundred fifty years ago, We The People declared independence. This Fourth of July, Florida declares its own.

The Florida Declaration of Independence

When a government stops answering to the people it serves, those people have every right — and every duty — to chart a new course. For too long, two parties have traded power while Floridians traded away their voice. We are told, again and again, to pick a side. We choose the people.

I.
Government derives its just power from the consent of the governed — not from party machines, and not from those who treat public office as private property.
II.
Our Constitution is not a relic. It is a living promise of self-government, and we intend to keep it.
III.
Each of Florida's 67 counties deserves a real seat at the table — every community, every voice, every time.
IV.
Transparency, integrity, and citizen leadership are standards to be met, not slogans to be sold.

Therefore — two hundred fifty years after the first declaration — we declare our independence from gridlock, from politics‑as‑usual, and from the false choice of two tired parties. We pledge to one another our effort, our integrity, and our common purpose as Floridians.

We are We The People Florida. And we're just getting started.
